What it’s like to live in SharedEasy coliving in New York

Accommodation in an expensive city like New York costs

In 2018, Co-living Space exploded in New York City. The pay-one-price concept of living with roommates in an already-furnished apartment with perks like television, a cleaning service, and even scheduled social events became the rave.

It’s a system in which a house’s bedrooms are private but almost everything else is communal. Regrettably, it has a reputation for being only for the toughest of souls. But there is much more to coliving in New York.

It sounds less like real life but more like the real world to live with more than a dozen strangers, putting up with their different behaviors. Is that, however, a fair assessment? Today, we’ll find out as we provide first-hand accounts from people who have lived in co-living spaces in New York.

The SharedEasy team provided excellent customer service, Kijuan responds quickly and is very attentive. I first checked into the Broadway location that didn’t work well for me – it is on a busy street, a couple of blocks from the train, and a walk up to the fourth floor. Convenient, but not ideal for me. They were gracious and allowed me to tour another location and change my reservation.

The Williamsburg/ Greenpoint location is great – the neighborhood is pretty quiet and feels safe to walk as a single female at night. Between the apartment and the Nassau G train station, there are two parks and also a few restaurants, bars, and grocery stores.

The L train from Graham runs more often and gets you into Manhattan quicker, but is not as scenic of a walk. Either station is a 15-minute walk. I’m also always able to find free street parking – just be mindful of the street cleaning signs.

At Greenpoint, there is only one shared shower for all the rooms, but so far it hasn’t been an inconvenience, we all seem to have different schedules and I’m always able to get in. There is a full shared kitchen for cooking and enough cabinet and refrigerator space to store some food.

My private room downstairs is very large, the size of a small studio. This is great for a long-term stay.

I would like to thank SharedEasy for the amazing experience I had at Bushwick Brooklyn. Especially the house leader Kamila, who gave me all the necessary support to make my stay even more amazing and welcomed me with great affection!!! Thank you Kamila for all your professionalism. And I recommend it to everyone coming to NYC, I hope to come back again soon.

Great experience in this coliving! Nice, welcoming, and well-furnished house with great roommates! Shared Easy is very professional and willing to make your stay the best! I strongly recommend this place and all their houses in NYC.

SharedEasy, especially the property at 107th and Manhattan, is nothing short of convenient for anyone looking to make a life in NYC. Great decor, great amenities. Of note, Kijuan, the Community Manager, makes sure the members are in contact with each other about events, our cleaning service, and happenings within the SharedEasy network. I’d recommend SharedEasy to anyone looking to start a life in New York, whether moving here for their first job in the city or doing an internship to land that first offer.

I had a great experience at SharedEasy. The staff was great and the house was modern and conveniently located with the subway just blocks away. The kitchen area was especially nice with new appliances and all of the things you need. I had a beautiful private room with a desk. Before I lived in NYC, in the Village. And after traveling I needed another place to stay to work and enjoy the city. I could not believe how easy it was to rent a room here and how much money I saved on deposits and hook-up fees. Coliving is the only option that makes sense for me in a place like NYC. I loved the community, the location near Central Park, and the blending of cultures with people traveling from all over the world. Thanks SharedEasy for a beautiful experience.

This is a great place for travelers and people who recently moved to NYC. The location is not the best but I did not have anything to be concerned about while I was out, even in the nights.

The place is clean and kept that way. You will have everything you basically need to get going. There is also a small backyard where you can relax.

The housemates are pretty chilled and had no issues except for one person. However, that was resolved quickly.

Overall, SharedEasy is a great value for money in Brooklyn.

Very nice place in a hip and upcoming area. Roommates were great to talk to.

House was spotless and the kitchen was very well equipped.

Bethan Dowling – Developer

The place was very clean and organized. Both the host and the other guests were very friendly.

The location was also pretty good, 5 minutes walk from the AC subway line at the Nostrand Ave station. The host allowed me to check out later since no one was moving in the next day.

My complaints are that my room was the only one too close to the living room which was sometimes noisy.

I also considered the place a bit too pricey, but it is definitely a solid choice to stay.

Martin Adams – Software Developer

This was an amazing stay and a stay I’ll never forget. The space was awesome, the faculty and staff were so considerate and responsive and this is the place in my move to NYC where I made my first real connections.

Thanks for all of that.

Shoutout to Kijuan and Melanie for going above and beyond the entire time to make sure my stay was the best it could be.

Dmitry Galyamov – Freelance Photographer And Hi-End Retoucher

I had a huge different co-living experience and I should say this one is the best. The house is really huge, with its reeeeeeaaaaally big bedrooms, everything you need in it from kitchen supplies to bedsheets, high-speed internet which was really nice since I am a freelancer and work mostly from home, comfortable furniture and of course very nice people. The company offers a weekly cleaning service which is great, imagine you’re coming home and it’s clean haha Very nice people in the house, I got no issues but was promised if anything happens it would have been solved right away. The area is a separate chapter lol Williamsburg is the best area to live in Brooklyn. Friendly neighborhood, with a lot of places to go to, and it takes 20 minutes to get to Manhattan. So long story short, it’s an amazing place for an affordable price. You won’t regret!!

Conclusion

SharedEasy’s co-living spaces are one of the most convenient and affordable spaces you can get in New York. And by checking out coliving in New York you’ll see that there’s always a space for everyone.
