Some breeds of dog are notorious for eating anything, apart from the expensive dog food you just bought them! However, it is important they keep a nice healthy balance. We love this pet recipe, that mixes homemade food with dried dog food. Check out this pancakes dog-friendly pancake recipe. They can also be frozen, so a nice easy treat!


  • 1 cup buckwheat flour
  • 4 tablespoons corn flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Dried dog food, as much as he/she wants! (ground up)


  1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until smooth.
  2. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat a small amount of butter (to coat) and cook each pancake about 1 minute on each side.
  4. (For bone-shaped pancakes, just pour the batter into a bone-shaped cookie cutter.)
  5. Cool and serve. Can be frozen.

The Cat Pet Pancake Recipe!

This is our favourite meaty pancake recipe from Simply Pets to be enjoyed by your pet cat. Of course it isn’t necessary to add the catnip in this one, though it could provide additional after dinner entertainment!


  • 1 cup of ground sirloin
  • 3 tablespoons of Oatmeal
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Table spoon of catnip (only for the brave)


  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl until smooth
  2. Kneed the mixture into round balls and flatten
  3. Grill for 8 minutes on gas mark 180
  4. Let it cool for 30 minutes
  5. cut into bite sized pieces for your cat to enjoy
