How to land a job as a real estate agent in 2022

If you’re looking to land a job in real estate this year, you’ve come to the right place. Whether or not you’ve been working in the industry for years, or you’re just starting out, you still have similar things to consider when applying for your next role. Let’s take a look here…
Property Experience
Like with most jobs, having admirable experience is always desirable, particularly if you’ve been part of a reputable business – for example, if you’ve been working for Compass. However, if you don’t have a lot of experience, then you can make up for this by showing that you’re excited and dedicated to learning the ropes. You might have to start lower down in the business ranks and work your way up but it will be worth it in the long term.
If you are considering different routes to get into real estate, you could see if any of your local offices are open to you doing some work with property experience for them. With this, you can find out if you are suited to it, and if they like you enough, they may offer you a permanent position. You can also look into different courses and educational options, to gain valuable information you can put into practice, and to impress your potential employer with your dedication. Check out what’s available online today.
Passion, Interest, and Knowledge in Property
Showing a real love for the industry will get you far. Demonstrating that you genuinely enjoy all that comes with real estate, from the different types of properties to the myriad of tasks involved, will certainly stand you in good stead when it comes to your interview. Get enthusiastic!
Character Traits
What you’re like as a person is one of the most important aspects of landing a job in real estate. Being a good conversationalist is a must. It will also be highly beneficial if you have the following personal attributes:
- Confident
- Quick-thinker
- Works well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to drive
- Networker
- Good listener
- Patient
- Negotiator
If you’re lacking in some of these areas, then this is something for you to think about and try to work on if you’re certain you want to get a new job in real estate this year. Practice makes perfect.
Manage Your Admin
One of the biggest aspects of job hunting is putting the right amount of research in, on the right platforms. This means you need to check jobs boards and LinkedIn. And start speaking to people you know, and doing what you can to find out what is available near to you. Make sure you update your resume with all the relevant points, starting with what you’re looking for. Reach out to recruiters too, as they often have roles available. Or in some cases they can at least let you know if anything comes up. You can also contact businesses directly, whether or not they have a job advert out, as you never know – they might just be looking for someone like you!
Best of luck on your job hunt – you’ve got this!
