Description

I live in a lovely part of Shrewsbury called Belle Vue, a short walk or cycle to the town centre and with easy access to a great town park called the Quarry for dog walks as well as a local nature reserve which winds through a lot of Shrewsbury called the Reabrook. There are good food shops within 5 mins walk and plenty of cafes and interesting shops on the town centre, ten minutes walk away. The railway station is a 20 minute walk along the river. There is on street parking by the house.
My two dogs are called Ted and Willow . Ted is a 5 year old Collie with a very lovable nature and is friendly to other dogs and people . He likes to chase squirrels and is not safe to be off the leash around farm animals as he would chase them also . Otherwise his recall is very good and is is often off lead as we mainly do town walks . When hill walking in the local hills which we often do, both dogs stay on their leads . Willow is an 8 year long dog, who is half Saluki. She has more issues than Ted around other dogs and hence stays on her lead . She loves people and mostly ignores other dogs . She and Ted are devoted to each other and really like to do everything together. They both came from the local rescue centre when they were 1 year old and are beautiful doggy companions . They are no trouble around the house and greet all visitors with delight. They sleep in the sitting room and are very happy being left for a few hours at a time as long as they have had a walk.
I now work part time self employed as a sports coach and gardener since leaving my PE role at a small local primary school. The dogs have been very adaptable to my being out of the house for a few hours at a time but recently I have started taking them on some of my jobs as I combine them with walks . They travel well in the back of my car on their baskets. Willow doesn’t enjoy long car journeys as I think she gets car sick after a while . They generally only have one good walk a day or two smaller ones and are very happy pottering in the garden with me as I’m often in the garden or eating outside once the weather is warm enough. They don’t require any grooming but do have a rather specialised diet which is raw food with a few extras which they have twice a day . The respond well to treats and will sit to receive them . So useful to have treats on walks if Willow feels anxious. Despite her sensitivity around other dogs she walks really well on the lead and doesn’t pull at all . Ted pulls a little but is improving and understands when he is and is told not to !
All in all they are very easy company and certainly do not require round the clock attention even in the evenings so gives the sitter chance to go out and explore without them .
