Description

We are looking for someone to housesit while we are away for just over 2 weeks in September, to look after our gorgeous 3-year-old Irish Setter, Holly. She is an active dog and needs a walk in the morning (45 mins) and in the afternoon (1 hour), but is otherwise content to snooze around the house, play in the garden and cuddle on the sofa. She is sociable and loving, and charms everyone she meets! She loves company and she enjoys visiting the local coffee shops and pubs to make new human and dog friends. She very occasionally barks at another dog while walking on-lead – we have improved this significantly with the assistance of a behaviourist and she is easily distracted by treats, but mentioning so you are aware.

We live in a semi-detached house on a friendly street in Henleaze, Bristol (UK). Our house has a kitchen, two lounges (one belongs to the dog!), 3 double bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, an office and two other workstations, and a secure garden with a gas BBQ. We have fast WiFi throughout the house (we both work from home the majority of the time). Henleaze is a wonderful area with a number of parks and woods for dog-walking close by, and the wider Bristol area and surrounding countryside has many beautiful walks. Henleaze High Street is a short walk away and has everything you might need – supermarkets, amazing delis and bakeries, cafes, restaurants, pubs, bookshops, library, gyms, even a cinema! We are well connected to the centre of Bristol by bus or on foot/bike, and a 15 minute drive from Bristol Parkway train station. We have a driveway for off-street parking if you are bringing/hiring a car, and bikes can be securely stored in the garage.

Dates –
Start: I have suggested arrival on Thursday 5 September (anytime) to meet us and Holly, and get to know her routine. We then depart on Friday 6 September.
End: We arrive back home on Saturday 21 September in the late afternoon.

Property Type: House (detached / semi-detached)
Responsibilities: Walking Holly at least in the morning (45 mins) and afternoon (1 hour), feeding her daily, providing cuddles etc. Care for our home as if it's your own. Occasional watering of the houseplants would be great, but no need to do any gardening (unless you would like to!).
Points of interest: Supermarket, Public Transport, Cafes & Restaurants, Cinema, Gym, Public Swimming Pools, Pubs
Things to know: As long as she's been walked, Holly can be left for up to 3-4 hours at a time. But she is a sociable dog and loves having people around, or accompanying you on your adventures! As mentioned above, she very occasionally barks at another dog while walking on-lead - we have improved this significantly with the assistance of a behaviourist and she is easily distracted by treats, but mentioning so you are aware. She is a slim but large dog, so being comfortable holding on to her lead if she pulls in these circumstances is essential.
