House in Central/South West France, 1 dog. 15-19 October, 5 days
Our relaxed, cosy house and our cuddly playful dog are looking for someone to share some quality time with.
Our 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom house is on the edge of a friendly hamlet. It is quiet and private but not isolated. The area has a great network of marked walking / cycling / horse riding paths, with 2 passing directly through the village.
The house looks out directly onto the village green and pond and has no passing traffic. It exudes calmness, so is a great place to unwind and watch wildlife from your doorstep.
With no light pollution, on a clear night, the sky above is quite spectacular. Owls fly past and bats flutter from the neighbour’s barn. Coypu regularly make their way to the pond at dusk and birdlife abounds during daylight hours.
The house is being transformed into a gîte for spring 2020, but as yet, it is still our lovingly restored holiday home. Original features such a oak beams and granite fire places have been retained from the old fermette. Sustainable lime render and hemp insulation, underfloor heating and wood burning stoves ensure the home is cosy and warm in all weather.
Upstairs, there are two, spacious bedrooms with en-suite bath or shower rooms.
The kitchen / diner is large and welcoming. It’s where we usually spend most of our time when in the house. (Unfortunately, the dishwasher stopped working last time I was there – I will try to get it repaired in time, but might not be able to in the time that I have)
The living room is dual aspect with a view over the back garden through the patio door and two windows looking towards the village pond. There is a smart TV and a large collection of DVDs. We have no satellite or aerial though but you can connect via your internet on your phone.
We don’t currently have fixed internet connection as we usually connect using a 4g wifi dongle. We can leave the dongle if you have a sim card to use with it.
The neighbours are all friendly. It is a very typical rural ‘hameaux’ with most inhabitants having some connection with farming, past or present.
