Housesit 12-24 June in central Southampton UK 1 Maine Coon cat
I am looking for a reliable catsitter or couple to care for my Maine Coon cat Pino. He is 3 years old, very docile and lovely, but also very shy… He is an indoor cat (although we take him out occasionally). He needs to be groomed a couple of times per week. Also, he sometimes suffers from allergies and scratches himself. When this happens he needs some additional care and to be given some medicines.
a regular, unintrusive schedule – by which he gets his wet food morning and evening and his dry food topped up when needed, fresh water and clean litter box (morning and evening). We normally do not leave him alone for more than 6h, but he can do better than that.
He is very playful and acts like a dog. But as he is very shy, he is well known to hide for days when someone he does not know is around. (This is quite impressive – as he is very big and the house is very small!) The ideal cat sitter needs to be Zen and must be aware that shy cats do not need to be chased and/or hunted from their hiding places… The ideal cat sitter makes sure all doors and cupboards are open (so that he is free to get out when he wishes) and patiently waits for him to make the first move.
The house is a small townhouse, located in the Old Medieval part of Southampton city Centre. The area is safe, quiet and pretty. All Southampton archaeological sites are very close, and so is the biggest shopping centre of the South (the West Quays and the Watermark), about 5 very big cinemas, a couple of theatres and concert halls, and an overabundant provision of good restaurants and Casinos, and several gyms. There are a number of city parks at 5-10 walking distance and a larger Common a bit further. Being so central, the area is very well served by public transport (bus, trains, ferries, cruise liners). A car is not strictly needed, but we do have a garage. Surrounding areas include Winchester and the New Forest – which are well worth a visit.
Pino gets along very well with my mum, who unfortunately leaves in Italy, and with my good friend Mary. This makes me think that a lady catsitter would be preferred. I think also a couple would work, but I fear that kids may not… It would be ideal for somebody who wants to enjoy Southampton cultural life (a lot hummier that once thought), with all these amenities at walking distance so there should be lots to see and do. PICTURES COMING SOON…
