Housesitting 1-14 Oct Dorchester Oxfordshire UK 2 cats
We live in the charming Thames side village of Dorchester in Oxfordshire only 8 miles from Oxford city centre. The buses are scarce but available from the centre of the village and on the bypass, the walk is approx half a mile from the house. From the house you can walk to a couple of traditional coaching inns, and a historic pub. The village is well preserved and often used for filming of Midsomer Murders, Miss Marple, Tom Brown’s School Day and other TV period pieces. There is a historic tea rooms and museum and a famous Abbey in the centre of the village.
Our cats both one year old, called Patsy and Eddie after some favourite tv characters. The cats are healthy rescued from Stadhampton animal sanctuary. We will document feeding routines in the morning and evening, and food will be provided.
Our home is a 60’s style, comfortable family home with three bedrooms two bedrooms could be made available for housesitters. You can walk to the Coop a village shop and the tea room in a few minutes from our house.
We have a working studio on the side of the house, my husband is a mixed media theatre maker, with models on show. His work is on show in the South Oxford Arts week at the end of May each year.
LOTS TO SEE AND DO
If you are visiting the area for the first time there is a great deal you can see and do while you are here. Directly from the house there are many walks to enjoy along the River Thames and only 10mins away there are the wonderful Wittenham Clumps, the ancient wooded chalk hills in Oxfordshire. The village itself has many points of attraction to anyone interested in history, culture and all things English, as it is well preserved in architecture and character. The nearby city of Oxford offers many public spaces, the Botanical Gardens, Christ Church Meadow and hours of walking in and out of college our of University term times. We’d be happy to offer you tips and suggestions ahead of your arrival for our favourite places to visit, our favourite pubs and restaurants locally. Please do get in touch.
