Housesitting 30 November -12 December La Nucia nr Benidorm SPAIN – 2 dogs 2 cats
Happily retired and enjoying Spanish lifestyle but originally from U.K. and South Africa. We often go back to U.K. to visit family and friends and likewise, South Africa.
We live in a large semi-detached house in La Nucía, near Benidorm and Albir. We let out our house at the top for holiday rentals and live in a separate flat on the ground floor. There are stairs in the main house, but very few in the flat. Each part of the house has its separate entrance. There is a small (heated) private pool. The house is on a corner but predominately faces west and the mountains of the Aitana range, including Puig Campaña. We are situated in a wooded valley surrounded by pine trees and hills.
We have WiFi. We also have satellite and Spanish TV.
We have 4 rescues-two cats and two dogs. They love having human company and hence why our first choice would always be an animal loving house sitter. We have had very positive feedback from previous house-sitters who have looked after, Bennie, Luna, Conchita and Hatchi.
HATCHI arrived first and he is a semi- feral ginger Tom who is neutered, chipped and has a pet passport. He comes and goes but knows where his food is twice a day!! Doesn’t like being picked up or fussed over however, he is very partial to men!!! Think he may have had a male owner previously. His age is uncertain but about 2014 birth time at a guess.
BENNIE is a small terrier type cross and loves a fuss, laps and food. He is full of energy but not keen on walks. However once on his lead he leads!! His recall is non existent so a lead is important at all times with Bennie when out and about. Bennie will turn 4 in November 2020. Chipped, Pets passport and neutered.
CONCHITA is 3 years old this Year 2020. She arrived a a small kitten in quite a state and though she likes to be an outside cat she does spend half the day indoors. She is neutered, microchipped and has a pets passport.
LUNA arrived in April 2018 and was 7 years old when we adopted her from a Spanish family near Malaga. She has been very well trained and avoids climbing on furniture – unlike the others. She also only travels in the car on the floor! We try and encourage her to sit on the seat but she seems happier in the floor. She is slightly wary of other dogs – not all, but can be protective of us when out walking. Off the lead on doggie beaches and busy doggie areas she’s very friendly and doesn’t worry about other dogs. She doesn’t like being left alone in the house without Bennie. They have become inseparably. Luna has her microchip. Pets passport and is neutered.
Luna and Bennie are a double act and fetch the ball is their favourite game. Luna goes into water but Bennie is not keen at all!! They both swim!
We have a very small garden but if you house sit for us in summer – the pots especially need watering. We have a garden bird feeding table and that needs filling up regularly as the birds love it!
We have two cars and subject to insurance requirements we allow the use of one one car for our house sitter.
There is a regular bus service supplied by ALSA from La Nucía into Benidorm roughly every hour until 8pm. There is one of the best municipal sports centres in the EU walking distance from our home. It’s called the Ciudad de Deportivo and if you Google this and include La Nucía you can find out all the up to date information on their website. Benidorm is the nearest town with nightlife all year round. The villages of Altea, Albir and Alfaz del Pi are on our doorstep and worth visiting.
