Pet minding 8 – 23 Sept in Rutland UK – 1 dog 2 cats
OUR HOUSESIT –
We are a retired couple much attached to our 3 pets. The main purpose of having housesitters is to care for our pets.
OUR PETS –
We have a Corgi / Staffi cross dog, 15 years old. We also have 2 Siamese cats, one is a pure line point, 14 years old, and the other is an oriental bi colour, only 3 years old. As far as Cassie the dog is concerned she doesn’t need walking, just letting into the garden when she asks (by sitting at the French window) She is almost totally deaf and her eyesight is failing and she is too old for walking, which is why we want a sitter rather than putting her in kennels. The older cat is called Lulu and is very loving, the younger cat is Incey and she can be shy at first but is very lively and loves to get outside whenever she can.
OUR HOME –
We live in a nice estate park home in a retirement community, in a 2 bedroom property. There is beautiful countryside all around us and we are very close to the historic town of Oakham. We have fibre wi-fi. and Sky TV.
Our kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge freezer and air fryer. The front room has French windows that let out onto a decking area with sun awning and seating area. The living room and bedroom both have air conditioning which controls the heating, although the boiler can also be used for heating, but that is not necessary very often. There is a walk in bath in the bathroom with a shower over, but there is also a walk in shower as an en-suite off the main bedroom. This is also a separate wardrobe area.
We are near a number of wonderful places to visit, the great attraction close to us is Rutland Water. Plus there are several National Trust properties and castles to visit including – Belvoir Castle (https://www.belvoircastle.com/ ), Oakham Castle (https://www.oakhamcastle.org/ ) and Rockingham Castle (https://www.rockinghamcastle.com/ ). It is a great place to base yourself to route some lovely places in the Central North of England.
The nearest shop i.e. Aldi is about a mile away and although there is a bus I don’t know about running times We always use the car. Oakham has a Tesco and a Lidl and Melton is a short drive away and has a big Sainsburys a big Tesco and a Morrisons. I would say that a car is necessary and there is parking right outside the house.
If people are interested in shopping the huge retail complex of Downtown at Grantham is quite accessible at about an hours drive, also Skegness isn’t far away if the seaside is desired.
