Description

We live in a lovely cottage situated down a single track lane. Its very quiet and peaceful down here with walks in every direction straight from the house. We are surrounded by farmland and woods. Although only a 5 minute drive to the small town of Heathfield, it’s a 25 minute walk, most of it uphill so a car is a must down here. Our cottage is cosy and warm with all mod cons, wifi, flushing toilets etc!

Property Type: House (detached / semi-detached)
Responsibilities: I am looking for somebody to be me for 4.5 weeks, to follow my routine so the animals can keep theirs. I'm a simple soul and lead what I think is an idyllic life and we are all a very happy bunch. I walk the younger of the two dogs twice a day, once decent long walk and the other shorter so I need somebody that will give her at least one decent walk a day. She is a Beagle so never comes off the lead because she will run off hunting deer, rabbits, what ever she smells. She always comes back but it can be a couple of hours later when she's good and ready! The other dog is quite elderly now and happy to stay in the warm. The garden is a decent size so he gets his exercise out there. I have an Arabian Mau cat who is very vocal, such is the breed. He chats away pretty much constantly! He is long and lean with a long tail and huge ears that he's never quite grown into. He loves a cuddle and is very much a lap cat, a bit shy to start with but very soon comes round. I have a large pond in the garden full of goldfish. They may need feeding if they are at the top. At the moment they are all at the bottom for the winter but have only just stopped feeding. They are easy, just a case of sprinkling some fish pellets in the water. I have two beautiful geese and 15 chickens, including my boy Royston who keeps them all in check and wakes me up every morning with a cock-a-doodle-doo. I am currently boarding my neighbour's three girls whilst we are in flock down. The geese need letting out in the morning when they will greet the lane with a lovely, loud morning honk and they need putting away before dark every evening. You just walk them in, its very simple and they aren't vicious. The chooks need letting out into the run every morning and shutting back in at night. They will take themselves off to bed but you will need to shut the door. I do poo pick the roosting area every morning. There is a glove for this you will be pleased to know. I do it every day because I know I wouldn't want to sleep in a bed that I'd pooed in, let alone sleep in a bed that others had pooed in! Both the geese and the chooks need mucking out properly once a week which takes about 20 minutes. I have about six house plants that will need a drink every 4 days or so. There is nothing to do in the garden, gardening wise. I do go on poo patrol in the garden once a week just to keep it under control.
